Mr Xie (author of this article) and Ms Liu, proud employees of our company, joined an one-week training course to learn PC-DMIS CMM operation at the Hexagon Solution Centre in Shenzhen in April 2021. They then successfully passed the exam and became licensed operators. We appreciated their efforts very much. Their newly acquired skills have reinforced the inspection capability of our QA department. They will lead us towards the realm of intelligence measuring and to achieve greater accuracy in manufacturing.
Hexagon is a leader in the area of coordinate measuring. At the turn of the 21st Century, this Sweden conglomerate managed to integrate a group of leading brands in the walks and assumed the dominate position in the business. Those brands included BROWN & SHARPE (USA), DEA (Italy), LEITZ (Germany), SHEFFIELD (USA), CE JOHANSSAN (Sweden), WILCOX the delvoper of Metrology Software PC-DMIS, TES (Sweden) the manufacturer of precision measuring tools, and ROMERS. A (France) and CIMCORE (USA) the manufacturers of robotic arms. In 2003, Hexagon has built a comprehensive base in Qingdao, China that combines manufacturing, merchandising and training. The Qingdao base aims to serve the whole Asian area.
The Shenzhen Solution Centre rests inside the Shenzhen Machinery Association Building in Guangming District. Guangming is a spacious new district with well-planned roads and virescence. The course lasted for 5 days. It started from scratches and combined theory and practice. Clase size was 8 to 10 students and there were 4 CMMs of the latest desgin for students to practice with. We studied under an experienced instructor to learn programing and operatation against some parts made specifically for the course purpose. The course was well-designed and thorough. Most of us had had zero knowlegde at the beginning, but when we passed the test on the final day, we all had confidence in operating the machines alone. The Centre gave students overnight access to the classroom. Many of us practiced till late at night every day. I was touched by the hard-working spirit of my fellow students. I treated this course as a piece of valuable experience in my life. It not only has given me new skills, but also positive attitude towards my furtue jobs.
The Centre also offers intermediate and advanced courses for people who need them.
